Agnostic Battery Management System Capacity Estimation for Electric Vehicles

Battery degradation is a main concern for electric vehicle (EV) users, and reliable capacity estimation of major importance. Every EV battery management system (BMS) provides variety information, including measured current voltage, estimated the battery. However, these estimations are not transparent manufacturer-specific, although measurement accuracy unknown. This article uses extensive measurements from six diverse EVs to compare assess with three different methods: (1) reading BMS through central area network (CAN)-bus, (2) using an empirical (ECE) method external measurements, (3) same coming BMS. We show that use consistent (a difference approximately 1%) can circumvent need costly experimental equipment DC chargers. data simplify ECE only by on-board diagnostics port (OBDII) reader AC charger, as car measures directly at terminals.
